Terms of Europcar cards and Ready Service Terms of Use of the site

1. General Terms and Conditions for Customer Cards

Customer cards are only to be used by their legitimate holders.

1.1. Customer cards issued in the name of a specific person are non-transferrable and can only be used by the person whose name appears on the card (henceforth designated as the Cardholder). The card must also bear the signature of the Cardholder on its reverse side.

Rental Terms and Conditions and Requirements

1.2. All rentals are subject to the General rental terms and conditions and requirements of Europcar.

1.3. The act of issuing a card attests that the Cardholder meets the prerequisite of being at least 20 years of age (21 years in foreign countries), and that at beginning of the rental period he or she can present the card accompanied by a valid driving licence free of penalty endorsements and valid for the class of vehicle to be rented. Additional provisions may be necessary depending on the country where the rental occurs. These Terms and Conditions can vary from time to time, country to country and location to location. The complete Rental Terms and Conditions can be requested from the head office of Europcar in the country in question.

1.4. Issuing a card does not encompass any insurance. Insurance terms and conditions are modified from time to time, and they can vary depending on the specific country and rental location. The Insurance Terms and Conditions for Rentals can be requested from the head office of Europcar in the country in question.

Blocking of cards

1.5. If a customer card becomes lost or stolen, or if blocking a card is considered to be necessary for some other reason, the Cardholder must promptly notify the head office of Europcar in his or her country of residence, stating his or her Driver ID number, and he or she must provide Europcar with all information necessary for identifying the card.

1.6. All information provided verbally must be promptly confirmed in writing. The Cardholder is liable for unauthorised use of his or her card, including any fees and costs that may be incurred as a consequence of unauthorised use, until such time as written notification has been received by Europcar.

Term of validity and renewal of the card

1.7. The month and year of expiration of the validity of the card are indicated on the card in the form ‘MM YY' (month year). The expiration date is the last calendar day of the indicated month. The card can no longer be used following this date.

1.8. The card will normally be renewed by Europcar without formal notification of the Cardholder, unless it has been temporarily suspended, has been cancelled by the Cardholder or Europcar, or has not been used within a period of 12 months prior to the expiration date. The card will not be renewed if Europcar receives written notice of cancellation no later than 2 months prior to the expiration of its validity. Europcar reserves the right to refuse to renew a card without stating any reason for doing so or providing prior notice.

Storage and conveyance of information

1.9. An applicant for a Europcar card is obliged to provide all items of information requested on the application form in order to obtain a Europcar card and the services associated with the card. This information is stored in a computer database, and the Cardholder is at all times able to view his or her personal data held in this database in order to verify or correct it. Europcar is entitled to convey detailed information regarding the Cardholder to any third party legally entitled to request such information, subject to local statutory regulations regarding data stored in computer systems. Europcar can transmit information about the Cardholder via the international Europcar data network and can convey such information to third parties involved in the vehicle rental business.
